Notes Illustrating Photographs

Aligned with the infamous wooden groin near 333 and 335 Beachfront, south of Pompano.

This groin was shortened by the Borough of Manasquan (months? a couple of years?) before the USACE beachfill project began.

The photo at right was taken later in 2007.

Top: Four wooden groins are seen. From S to N: (1) the closest one in the foreground is Site K, (2) the shortest one is at 333 Beachfront—this is Site J, (3) the wood groin without sheeting and the naked piles at its end is at Site H, (4) the last of the four is at Site G (you can see the Brielle Road bathrooms at left). Site I, which is not at a groin, is in the beach between Site H and Site J.

Bottom: From N to S: (1) the wooden groin with the missing end sheeting is at Site H, (2) the short groin ending in the beach is Site J at 333 beachfront, (3) the long groin extending into the water is Site K, (4) Site L is at a wooden groin barely visible behind the groin at Site K, (5) a stone groin at Site M extends into the water, (6) the inlet jetty where Site N is at.
